INVESTIGATIONS OF A DOG
"TO SEE AND TO WATCH WAS THE SAME"
The idea of "Indagini di un Cane" came from the reading of "Forschungen eines Hundes" of Franz Kafka. The project, which has never been edited before, explore the formal and linguistic idea od "Module" ( form), as a formal minimal structure and skill which act as the base for our multilinguistic composition.In a multimedia composition (dance, live music, live video, movie, text) free from Hierarchies or traditional narratives and plots, our research goes for a possible/impossible harmony through the territories of drama and relations.
Relations between analysis and intentions, between bodies and space, physical body and digital body (through sounds and images)
More deeply, our reflection is about the relationships between the self and the power.
It's about the unbridgeable gap between singular intentions and collective issues. It is about the delay of each single man as part and member of a collectivity.
We start our creative path exploring the concept of "Measure", as a basic unit of a collective composition.
1 Measure
The focus of the project, as in Kafka narrative, is the insecure/uncertain and responsive territory between knowledge and its application; this hiatus, this delay is familiar in the digital environment: the duration of calculation, rendering: a measure of time meanwhile all the work is created.
The first step of the modular editing of the project, 1 Measure (on the possibility of relations) bring us toward an experiment , a collective hybrid body , which will represent - visible and audible, sensible - the possible relations between body and techné, betweeen the original, unique, and the mechanical or digital reproduction, betweeen physic body and virtual body.
We'll explore the concept of "Measure", its ethical and behavioural relevance. The Measure Paradigm will be the focus of the multiple possible relations. The project will try to re-discover the symbolic value of the human idea of Measure.
MEASURE = Module
MEASURE = Distance
MEASURE = Basic Unit of Composition
MEASURE as musical phrase
MEASURE as a module for a possible combination/composition.
MEASURE as awareness of being
MEASURE as an exercise of self positioning (Distance)
MEASURE as possibility of interaction
MEASURE as tools of knowledge
MEASURE as relation
Formally, the animal (doggy) subject of the Kafka narrative drive our perspective.
The relationship between body on stage and virtual body (video silouhette) will follow different paths.
- Choreographic work: gesture and trajectory between body and its reproduction
- Real Time Take of the silhouette which is reproduced inside the stage.
- De-constructed and Re-constructed on its movie background
- Windows on unconscious: footage cinematografico (silouhette on movie screen)
- Text. Through projections.
- Composition. It will follow musical modules (with references to Athanasius Kircher's Ars Combinandi: we'll try to apply this to a multimedia composition)
