European Contemporary Production

Focus on Art and Science in the Performing Arts: European contemporary production is a project on the creation and dissemination of contemporary performing arts in the choreographic, theatrical and artistic fields. But not this alone - it is a discussion platform open to researchers, operators and anyone who wishes to intervene in the debate on the relations between Visual Arts, Entertainment Arts and Science today.

The project springs from the realisation that more and more choreographers, directors, musicians and visual artists are carrying forward together research that unites scientific and technological practice with artistic practice. Creation has thus become the result of continuous contamination among all the arts. One of the starting points was also the realisation that at present the most advanced research on these topics is going forward particularly in Northern Europe; our intention is to develop a discussion forum at the level of the Mediterranean countries as well.

At the heart of the project are young artists who, thanks to the creation of a Euro-Mediterranean network, will have the opportunity to enrich their experience and to develop shared working and research practices.

The development points are first of all the productions. In the first phase, under an announcement of competition at European level, 13 projects have been selected that respond best to issues regarding the contemporary scenario.
Production support is offered to the chosen projects through two main approaches: on the one hand, through a system of work residencies, on the other, through a European itinerary for the presentation of the works/studies that will verify the evolution of the work, periodically and publicly. As well as an economic contribution supporting the production.

In the second phase, there will be a further selection of 5 projects from among the 12 identified in the first year; these five will receive further support, as well as circulation in the festivals and exhibitions that are part of the network of co-organisers and partners.
