CINQUANTA URLANTI QUARANTA RUGGENTI SESSANTA STRIDENTI

Cinquanta urlanti quaranta ruggenti sessanta stridenti (Furious Fifties Roaring Forties Shrieking Sixties) are the proper names of three groups of winds that blow over the Antartic sea. For our work we started to think on the ship and on the people who lives in it. There's no diffence between the sailor and it's own ship. From the very moment when the ship leaves the harbour a new, unique, floating body is born.
Like the bird-watcher that hides, lies in wait for the bird sings to record them and needs to be in a the twittering and the screeching sings of the birds are replaced, in a sound analogy, with the sound of the screeching ropes, the creakings of the soaked wood, the sound of the embarked objects, all produced by the rolling of the ship on the waves.
Sometimes is possible to hear human voices and moaning from far away, like they come from a dark, obscure and sombre jumble.
All those sounds make up a deeper sound, the one of a universe where the sailor, the wind, the ship and the sea are the only conceivable characters.
Our dance wants to hold everything that encloses the ship, everything that the ship is carrying with it.
